Universal connectivity

  The less we see of the stars in the sky, the more disconnected from the universe we become. When I was a child, I remember routinely looking up to see the Milky Way, studying the heavens and wondering if anyone else was out there. I remember feeling a connection to the universe, like we belong to something magnificent and incomprehensible.  With more and more satellites being thrown into space, and with more light pollution on the ground, we no longer see the heavens as our ancestors did. Native Americans had a clear connection to the universe, which held the power and knowledge of the ancestors. We do not. We are similarly being disconnected from wildlife on Earth as we stare into our screens without attention to the universe around us.  Mid-Atlantic, I remember feeling closer to God than any place else on Earth. Was it because I could see more of the heavens out there? Did it let me imagine a God, stretch my thoughts to her in the heavens? As Anthropic and other ...
