Aleria is up for sale

They say that the best day for boat owners is the day they buy their boat and the day they sell it. For me, it was the day we set sail across an ocean on her. Now I say, "Parting is such sweet sorrow, let us part 'till it be morrow."

This will be a bittersweet moment for us. Aleria has been such a big part of our lives for so many years. She's taken good care of us on our Atlantic crossings and many other voyages. But we haven't been crossing oceans and we've had to pass by many inlets with shallower waters where she just wouldn't fit. So the time has come to trade down and let Aleria pass on to someone who plans to do some distances. I shouldn't be sad, but I know I will be. I will also be happy to go boat hunting again.

Aleria (formerly Manic Moment, Kestrel, Papagayo) is a classic Holman & Pye designed ketch, built in 1976 in the United Kingdom for delivery to the US.  She is the sister ship to Roger Swanson’s Cloud Nine, which was one of the first yachts to successfully traverse the NW Passage. She was featured in Cruising World (Quite the Ketch, May 2007: https://www.cruisingworld.com/sailboats/bowman-57-quite-ketch), on coastalboating.net, Bowman 57 Facebook page and on the covers of publications. She is a very comfortable cruiser for crossing oceans as well as living aboard.

Over the past year, she has received new standing rigging as well as receiving a thorough going over with many minor repairs to make her ready for her next adventure.

She has been given classics status by Jauge Classique Handicap, JCH
